welcome back

Yes, I just welcomed myself back to the blog. I have kind of missed writing here, but I certainly have not missed the pressure I put on myself to keep up with things like this.

I had a few minutes to sit and write after I posted the "bee stuff" earlier, so I sat here and played around with my blog layout and then wrote that first sentence up there.

Then Jacob got up from his pretend "nap." He once in a while falls asleep, but mostly he just needs to go in his room and do something quietly so that I can finish a thought without his help.

Now he's up and he has to (we have to) do his homework. Homework. Kindergarten has homework. I think it's nuts, but man, that kid has learned SO MUCH this school year.

He spent his nap time reading a book. With chapters. I'm impressed and so excited to think that he might enjoy reading as much as I do.

He was reading a book called "Junie B., First Grader, Toothless Wonder."

And since he IS a toothless wonder, that's appropriate.

See that big tooth, right in front? It's loose, too.

Where did my baby go?

And speaking of my "baby," little Ryan finished his first year of preschool yesterday. He made a transformation from a sobbing, crying mess at the door of the classroom in the morning into the child that received this assessment at the end of the year.

This came home last week, just at the right time. We'd had a rough couple of weeks with Mr. Ryan. Lots of things to do and not enough nap time make for a tantrum throwing monster.  (I have video evidence of this, btw.) So, it was really nice to get this from his teachers. When kids are this little, it feels kinda like a parent report card. I think we passed, and I'm so happy to know that his sweetness is evident to others.

Such a sweet little guy most of the time.

It took me almost all day to get this much written. Maybe we'll see more in the coming weeks. Maybe.
