bee videos

Just a few bee videos that I had saved on my phone...

First, a video of the orienting flights that the bees take when they are just beginning to leave the hive as foragers. They do this kinda crazy circular flight pattern, making their way farther and farther away from the hive. The thing is, they do it in such great numbers that when you see it happening the first time, you think something must be terribly wrong...



This one was when the bees swarmed for the last time this spring. I actually missed the majority of the activity, but it's still pretty impressive.
