another kind of bee

Way before I liked honey bees, I loved spelling bees.

Yes, I've always been kind of a nerd.

Today Jacob competed in his very first spelling bee. He practiced his words all weekend and was pretty excited for the event. He did great!




The little girl who is up right before Jacob is his "girlfriend." She's adorable.

He made it past another round with the word gray but got tripped up on the word "bean." B-E-E-N sounds like a pretty good guess to me, and they actually let him spell it twice since some folks, in fact, pronounce "been" like "bean." Then he spelled it B-A-E-N.

He didn't win, but he sure looked cute up there on the stage.
