Just over a year ago, sweet Betsy came out to visit us.
While she was here, we made a trek up to the Wheel Inn diner in Cabazon to visit the dinosaurs and have a tuna platter and a milkshake. While that is a fun thing to do all on its own, we made the trip up in honor or my cousin Ken. He and Jacob have the same birthday, February 1st.
You don't need the details, but it was in the car on the way up there that I first learned that Jake gets car sick.
It was freezing (like snow on the mountains in front of us freezing) when we got out of the car at the diner, and Jake was basically naked. I bought him a big sweatshirt that would cover him up. A big, powder blue sweatshirt with a dinosaur on the front.
We climbed up into the T. Rex and knew Ken was there with us.
When we got home, we took off the giant powder blue sweatshirt, and put it away in the back of the drawer. No one has thought about it since.
Until...Wednesday morning. Jacob's birthday.
I sent him into his room to get a sweatshirt to wear to the zoo.
He came back wearing this.
Happy birthday, Ken. We love you so very much.

That's a good birthday shirt
ReplyDeleteThat story makes me smile and cry a little. They say when family members are born on the same date they share the same soul. I think that just might be true. Happy Birthday Ken. Happy Birthday Jacob.
