New Jammies

I have a fabric problem. As in, I have too much fabric. It's sort of like my yarn problem...though not quite as bad.

When I moved all of my craft stuff from its old home in the office into the garage during the remodel, I was a little shocked to see just how much fabric and yarn I had stashed away. Some of it was really great stuff...that I had surely purchased for some reason.

Since I no longer have a craft room but a craft space, I promised myself that I would go through all of my stash before bringing anything back into the house. My craft supplies would need to be limited to the space available in a cabinet. This cabinet, to be more precise.

I also vowed to stop buying more fabric until I had used some of what I already had.

Well, I really, really want to buy more fabric. I know I don't need it. I just want it.

So...I decided it was time to actually sit down and make something. I'd had plans (in my head, at least) to make some cute little dresses for some cute little girls I know. I pulled out all of my fabric and found some inspiration for a design online.

Here's the girlie stuff...

This was actually the first thing I made. A little snuggly thing for Ryan.
And I certainly don't want to forget about my boys, so here is what they got this afternoon.
(These jammy pants are perhaps the easiest things to sew. I was inspired by this mommy's awesome how-to on her blog.)
While I still have plenty of fabric left, these projects definitely made a dent in the pile. At least that's what I'm going to tell myself when I head out to the fabric store.

  1. First of all, those are awesome little dresses. Second, that picture of Jacob standing there wearing those jammie bottoms you made him is so sweet. He is so adorable! I mean REALLY, REALLY adorable.

  2. Well, are we just a sewing maniac lately. It is so rewarding when it come out so well. And all of those are great. (Remember: Ben is also one of your boys that might need pajama pants.) I missed our trip out to Rosie's. Maybe next time.
