Holko House - Review

I've learned many things throughout the process of this house remodel. A few of the recent ones:

Drinking a glass or two of wine while painting makes the job even more enjoyable.

Drinking more than two glasses of wine while painting makes the job a huge waste of time (since you will likely need to go back and "touch-up" the entire wall).

Dogs are terrified of air compressors.

Little boys can sleep through anything, including hammering and swearing right outside their bedroom doors.

Just because you really like a color does not mean you should paint it on your wall.

Everything related to home improvement takes at least twice as long as you think it should.

It is easier to start another big project than it is to finish up a little one. This is stupid, but absolutely true...as evidenced by the fact that I have yet to touch up the paint in the living room (see above).

Ben and I do not work well together when there is any "figuring" to do. Apparently, we both know everything and this poses a problem when neither of us really know what we are talking about.

Three year-olds make great assistants when you need to move dirt.

Three year-olds do not make great assistants when you are painting (or doing anything other than moving dirt, really).

Babies who like to be held all day provided excuses for relaxation.

Construction dust takes a very long time to settle.

We are not yet finished with this whole project. I'm not sure we ever will be done, but I am sure there are many more lessons to be learned.

More pictures will be coming soon. My camera just took a trip to Africa (really) and will be back next week.
