Crafty

Since I am too fat and tired to work on projects outside, I feel like I finally am off the hook. I always have a bunch of crafty projects in mind, just never the time to do them.

Since relieving myself of yard duty, I have more time to work on projects. With so many friends having babies, I've been working on lots of baby-related items. I never took a picture of the little elephant I knit for Jen (who, by the way, now has a very cute, sweet baby boy!), and I can't yet post pictures of the projects I finished for Anna's shower this weekend on the off chance she might see them here.

But, I figured that I needed to make something for my OWN baby, too. I have a somewhat unhealthy fascination with making bags. Knit bags, quilted bags, you name it, I am inspired to make it.

Inspiration is definitely not the same thing as motivation, so I have not made nearly as many as I have purchased supplies for.

But, I made this one yesterday. I used scrap fabric from a few different quilts I've made, and I'm really happy with the final result!

I also made a baby sling. I love the idea of slings, and figure that it will be nice to have both arms free to do the things necessary to corral a two-year-old, while still holding the new baby. If you've ever priced these oh-so-complicated strips of fabric, you are aware that they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive strips of fabric. Like more than $50 expensive. And seriously, that's all they are. A strip of fabric. And two rings. That's it.

Of course, I figured, "I can do THAT."

I ordered the special rings (no welds, won't snap, blah blah blah) and bought two yards of fabric. It literally took 5 minutes to hem an edge and seam the other side.

Done.

Now I just need someone little to snuggle into it. Four more weeks. That's all he gets. We are not playing around with this "overdue" nonsense.
