My chickies got here yesterday, and I like them even more than I thought I would. Who WOULDN'T love a little fluffy chick, though, really? I was a little nervous about the whole thing and was getting anxious on my way to the post office to pick them up. Who orders chickens through the mail? Do they even LIKE to travel? And after reading the disclaimer on the website when I ordered them advising parents to NOT tell their children how many chicks they had ordered and to NOT allow them to be there when the package is opened (dead chickies = sad kiddos), my anxiety about this was increased greatly. I was much relieved when I got to the post office (yes, they were all waiting for me, to see who the crazy person was that ordered a box of pet chickens) and they brought out my little box of peeping chicks! I could hear that there was more tham one, so felt confident that I had at least two survivors. Jacob and I hurried home and opened up the box to find three fluffy little ones, all looking happy! And I was very excited that all three look different from each other.
Dorothy, named after my mom's mom, looks like a chick from an Easter candy advertisement. She is yellow and fluffy and very cute.
Betty, named for my dad's mom, is mostly black with some lighter markings. I cannot imagine what she will look like when she is big.
Ruth, for Ben's grandma, is a pretty brown-reddish color, and has very cute white fuzzy cheeks!
So, the girls have taken up residence in a box in my office for now. Until they get a little bigger, and I finish their coop, they will stay in the house, under their heat lamp.

That's all for now. I have so little to do and so much time....wait. Scratch that. Reverse it...
