Then last night we had to move all of the furniture out of our living room/dining area in order to clear the space for the drywall guys to do their popcorn removal thing today. We just moved all of that furniture out into the new room...and I like it so much that now I don't want to put it back where it was.
And....as Ben and I were sitting on the couch in here last night (of course, I am sitting in the new room as I type this), we decided we just liked the whole look and feel of it all so much that we want to go ahead and put this new flooring throughout the rest of the living area. Our old laminate flooring is still ok, but it's starting to show many signs of wear and will need to be replaced in a few years. As we learned when we wanted to replace the area in THAT floor where the fireplace was removed, it is not always possible to find the same thing...
It was actually impossible, as that particular flooring was discontinued about five years ago. I realize that this little problem is not enough to warrant replacing the entire floor, but it definitely helped sway the decision.
Next on the list: replace the roof on the house (and hopefully stop all of the leaking), pull up and replace old laminate flooring, and put in a new flagstone patio.
I love it too. Especially the darker floor with such a bright room. I do think that furniture is a better scale in that room. Are you doing any window treatments? Roman shades? With all those windows were will the artwork go!!! Just kidding. Will your fireplace go where the TV is now? Hey, I got my kitchen floor redone with black and white square tiles too. I'll send you a pic soon.
ReplyDeleteA little late for this idea, BUT it would of been cool to do a dark faux beam to match the floors down the center of your peak where the fans are. Those beams are extremely realistic these days. Can you tell I'm living vicariously through your remodel?
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love that room. I think you should leave the sofa in there and start with something else for the other part. since i am sure you will be living in that part so the sofas won't stay too clean, I would just put in other furniture in the old living room section. That way you can create a whole new space in that section. As far as the day bed goes, just put Jacob in that and don't use the toddler bed (unless he insists).
